In this episode we dive deep into Brandon's youth sports background, and how what seemed to be mistakes made as a youth athlete that may have impacted his ability to play at the next level, turned out for good and paved the path for his current coaching career. The impact he has on his soccer teams/players goes beyond the field, and as soccer parents, it was very encouraging and refreshing to hear Brandon's coaching priorities and how he truly values the future of each of his players on and off the field. We had the pleasure of attending the Top Tier 90+OT 4v4 Championship Sunday in Greenville, SC. While we were there we were able to have a conversation between the 3 Dads regarding the topics of what kids should/could be doing in the offseason, what does NIL look like in the future for youth sports, and how we feel about athletes going Pro as teenagers. Throughout this episode, we were able to do short interviews of youth athletes and parents at the competition and get their input on futsal league and youth sports. We had the pleasure of sitting down with one of Byrnes High School’s Lacrosse coaches, Tre Confer. Byrnes High School is a nationally renowned football program, and was one of the first high schools regularly aired on ESPN in the early 2000s. Tre and his fellow Lacrosse coaches at Byrnes are continuing to build the Byrnes brand of sports excellence with the Lacrosse program. Us 3 dads received a super great education of how the game of lacrosse is played, how its popularity is sweeping the nation, and the immense opportunities for athletes to play Lacrosse at the next level. We had the pleasure of sitting down with Greenville, SC native Carlos Berrio; current CESA Academy coach and Iron X supplemental training coach . We dive deep into Carlos’s youth soccer experience growing up in Greenville, SC. We talk about the original two major soccer clubs in Greenville back in the early 2000s, GFC and St. Giles, and what the rivalry was like between those two clubs back then. We talk about the transition of the two clubs merging and creating the club we all know now as CESA. Carlos has a unique perspective of CESA as he was a player for the club when it first formed, and is now a tenured CESA coach for the majority of his adult life. We talk in depth about injury and the mental health side of injury and how to work through that. We talk in depth about parents role in their child’s youth sports development/experience. We had the pleasure of sitting down with Tom Morris, former D1 soccer player and one of the original coaches at CESA when the club first formed. Tom not only was one of the original Academy coaches, but also was one of the founders of the current Center of Excellence program at the club. Tom discusses in detail his youth sports experiences, and how he was able to use his experiences to help CESA create an environment focused on Development of not only soccer players, but development of young boys and girls with quality character. We had the pleasure of sitting down with Ryan Bilichuck, goalkeeper for the MLS team, the Portland Timbers. We dive deep into how the heck Ryan became a goalie, and how once he decided to be a goalie he dedicated all of his training toward becoming nothing less than a professional goalkeeper. Ryan's journey toward becoming a professional goalkeeper was full of obstacles that would have made most people quit their dream, but Ryan kept pushing through and didn't let the setbacks get in the way of his dreams.
