What’s the biggest difference between working harder and working smarter?

Here recently, I’ve been very into digging into and dissecting personality types.

The above quote is from quite possibly my favorite video game and e-sport of all time….

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.

The most interesting thing to me about this game is the coordination and teamwork between players.

It’s an intense, high stakes 5 vs 5 game where not only communication and coordination are important during the action…

But games can be won or lost on operator selection alone.

It’s interesting to see what type of person gravitates to which operator.

Who works well together? Which two operators step on each others toes? What squad composition never works in THIS situation?

While anyone worth their salt would be putting in the time on fundamentals to get better, (at least if they’re going to be competitive)...

You come to a point where you realize that you can only get so good by yourself.

The chances of playing lone wolf and surviving in this game is almost absolute zero.

It doesn’t matter how hard your work or how hard you try, because in the end no one does it alone.

It comes down to playing to your unique strengths and contributing to the team.

Let’s face it.

Not everyone is the “kick in the door” type of cat.

Not everyone throws 100 mph fastballs.

Sometimes it takes some finesse and playing by your own rules…

While still serving and supporting the team.

Win.

Fail.

Learn.

Grow.

Yesterday, I began my second read through of The New Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz.

Evans Putman and I will be reviewing it and breaking it down on our new podcast called “The Evolved Trainers”.

You might be saying, “Whoa, that sounds complicated”...I think it sounds pretty cool.

The tagline of the book is, “The Original Science of Self-Improvement and Success That Has Changed the Lives of 30 Million People”.

Give me some of that, right?

As I began reading yesterday afternoon about how everyone from elite professional athletes to top ranking CEO’s and business leaders have benefitted from the contents of the book, a thought occurred.

I remembered something that changed the trajectory of my own life and business forever.

The power of framing the learning process in a way that lends itself to retaining information more efficiently than ever before and encouraging playing full out without the fear of failure, otherwise known as “gamification”.

I just recently wrapped up Gears 5’s campaign.

Now, a lot of people may scoff at my love of video games, but there is a powerful lesson to be learned from them if you just take the time to check it out.

And also it was the inspiration for naming my business in the first place.

Another story for another day...

Everything from the storylines in single player campaigns that make people emotional.

The satisfying sounds and visual cues of a well placed shot from characters with distinct personalities that magnetically draw people back day in and day out.

The heart pumping thrill of making the clutch play and winning the round as the clock ticks away to 0.

And ultimately unlocking achievements…

Do people really want a cookie?

The short answer is yes, but only when they have chosen “the hard work”, because after all the only difference between hard work and a game is a choice.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re on a field, in a cage, or at the office; there is much to be learned from reframing a tough situation into a chance for victory.

Don’t you love it when you get challenged?

I can think of several instances where my life completely changed because of a dare or bet, but there is without a doubt a grand champion.

I’ve always loved complex, high level problem solving.

It’s always given me a chance to prove those guys wrong…

You know the ones. The ones who sit around shining a spotlight on the problem, revisiting it over and over and over.

The complainers. The ones who hope the coach puts them on the bench when they get tired. The ones too afraid to let other people watch them fail.

I’m not perfect. I’ve complained before too, but there are some folks who make a sport out of it.

A lot of things haven’t gone my way, but in 2018 in Orlando, Florida I answered the call of…

It was there that my life changed forever.

I invested in my first coaching program for creating an online business.

Initially, I just wanted to get my message out there and help people with their health and wellness, but I quickly fell in love with this new “funnel” game.

I’ve recently been challenged (by me this time), but I’ve told a few close people so I’d hold myself to it.

As I’m doing something that most would call crazy, this is what I’ve arrived at.

I’m going to be doing a daily post using my writing super power as I build an online health and wellness business AND show other health and wellness entrepreneurs exactly what I’m doing at the same time.

With a 15 minute time limit :)

This will keep me on track AND keep you informed on several topics that I love to talk about, because I can’t pick just one.
