CLM Earthmovers, LLC in conjunction with Yavapai County will be performing roadwork on the Pioneer Parkway and Commerce Drive intersection beginning July 18, 2022, and continuing through February 2023. Road construction will consist of building a multi-lane roundabout on Pioneer Parkway at Commerce Drive. Work will include importing materials to raise and level the intersection, milling and paving, drainage improvements, lighting improvements, curb and sidewalk installation, and miscellaneous landscaping. During critical periods of construction, Commerce Drive will be closed to through traffic and reopened as soon as possible. After over a decade of service to the public as the Yavapai County Recorder, Leslie Hoffman notified Board of Supervisor's Chair Mary Mallory of her intent to resign from office to pursue other career opportunities. Her resignation is effective July 22, 2022. The Board of Supervisors accepted Recorder Hoffman's resignation at its regular meeting on July 6, 2022. The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors is now soliciting Letters of Interest for an appointment to the position of Yavapai County Recorder to complete the remaining term of office, which ends on December 31, 2024. Effective Friday, July 15, 2022, at 8:00 am, Yavapai County, Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority, Prescott Fire, and Prescott National Forest will rescind all fire restrictions. Mary Mallory, Yavapai County Board of Supervisors Chair, worked with the Yavapai County Emergency Manager, local forest services, and fire professionals, to discuss the current fire danger and, at this time, have determined that it is appropriate to remove fire restrictions that were implemented in May. Yavapai County Emergency Manager Ashley Ahlquist said, “There has been an increase in precipitation within the County. Prescott National Forest has seen anywhere from 0.66” to 4.66”...

The Town of Prescott Valley will test all its water production wells after the City of Prescott announced Friday that it has shut down two of the three wells near the airport because of positive tests for Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and Perfluorooctansulfonate (PFOS). The third well had a negative test for the man-made chemicals. The Town of Prescott Valley water system is not physically connected to the City of Prescott Water system, but the two communities share the same groundwater resources. Beginning Monday, July 11, the Arizona Department of Transportation will renovate and upgrade facilities at the Sunset Point Rest Area along Interstate 17 at milepost 252 north of Phoenix. The rest area will be closed to travelers for several months while the improvement project is underway. UPDATE: The Sunset Point Closure has been delayed until Labor Day. The City of Prescott tests its drinking water supply regularly to ensure that it meets all drinking water quality standards. Recent test results found the presence of man-made chemicals called Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) in two of its water production wells located in the airport area. While PFOA and PFOS are not currently regulated by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) nor the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), emerging scientific thought is that these compounds may be harmful to human health.
