Energy infrastructure company Kinder Morgan has donated over four acres of land to the City of Flagstaff to construct the Shadow Mountain Flood Basin, a regional detention basin to reduce flood and mud-flow threats to Eastern Flagstaff neighborhoods. The Shadow Mountain Flood Basin will help reduce flooding from the 1977 Radio Fire burn scar on Mount Elden, as well as repetitive floods from upstream of Flagstaff city limits. Yavapai College announced today that the College has officially launched its search for the next President. The College has formed a Presidential Search Committee made up of college leadership, faculty, staff and community representatives from throughout Yavapai County. The College has retained Cizek Associates, Inc. (CAI) to lead a comprehensive national search and assist the Search Committee throughout the process. On Wednesday, City Council approved a new one-year pilot program designed to support First Fridays and support local businesses. Under the Downtown Arts Vending on Private Property Pilot Program, businesses along Roosevelt Row can apply for permits to host vendors selling paintings, jewelry, ceramics, clothing, and other locally made art. Many property crimes occur when someone spots an easy target, like an unlocked car, open garage, or other easily accessible area. Residents can help prevent these crimes by securing their property, adding security cameras, and using exterior lighting.

Prescott Valley Police Department (PVPD) encourages residents to take a few minutes to practice the “9PM Routine” – a simple way for residents to protect their homes and property.

Every night at 9PM:

• Remove valuables from vehicles, including the open beds of trucks, and lock all vehicles.
• Secure valuable property that is visible.
• Check and lock all home doors and windows, including garage doors.
• Turn on exterior lights.

The PVPD is committed to reducing crime and the fear of crime by educating our residents and providing tools to help keep themselves and their loved ones safe.

Yesterday, a truck with a raised bed struck the traffic signal at Glassford Hill Road & Santa Fe Loop Road, causing significant damage. Public Works crews, Prescott Valley PD, and our signal contractor quickly stepped in and were able to restore temporary signal operations.
