  • Yavapai County Has Returned to Stage 1 Fire Restrictions

    Effective Monday, July 19, 2021, at 8:00 AM, Yavapai County Board of Supervisors Chairman Craig Brown has taken the unincorporated areas of Yavapai County back to stage 1 fire restrictions. Chairman Brown said, “We err on the side of caution, we follow the lead of our local forest and fire experts, and together we make the best decisions we can. After several discussions with our Emergency Manager, I have ordered the stage 2 and fire ban lifted from Yavapai County. We will remain in stage 1 fire restrictions for now but will continue to closely monitor the situation.” Stage 1...

  • Prescott Fire and CAFMA Lower Fire Restrictions from Stage II to Stage I

    Starting at 8:00 am on July 16, the Prescott Fire Department and Central Arizona Fire & Medical Authority will lower fire restrictions to Stage I due to the recent moisture and a reduction in fire activity. This will also be consistent with the Prescott National Forest. Everyone is asked to exercise caution with fire and please use the ashtrays in your vehicles.     The Prescott City Council yesterday unanimously approved the Development Agreement with Arizona Eco Development (AED), putting into motion a series of steps that will ultimately ensure that approximately 475 acres of prime Granite Dells property will become open space, owned by the City of Prescott for public use. The agreement will also provide 270 acres of land near Prescott Regional Airport, to allow for future expansion of the growing airport.   • Trail Closures Due to Thinning Operations on Mingus Mountain

    A contractor has begun using heavy equipment to thin trees on 284 acres of Prescott National Forest land on Mingus Mountain. The Butterfly Stewardship Project is located east of Highway 89A, along Forest Road 104. Thinning operations are dependent on weather and soil conditions, but visitors can expect equipment to be in the area for the next 1-2 months.
