We are conditioned from a young age to remain silent at certain points and taught that it is a virtue. This conditioning helps keep both order and a polite society. In many instanced silence is both honorable and ethical behavior. Society is eager to react to those who speak out by matching their voice with an equal or louder response. The past decade we have seen careers ruined and individuals cancelled for telling their truth.
Convictions to truth can be equally important to voice in a culture trying to silence those who stray from the approved dialogue. Silence is not always golden. In fact, silence can be unethical and immoral. Truth should never be silenced for fear of reprisal. Truth should be shouted with love and conviction.
There is not time left for silence. Now is time for action.
