The King of kings promised in the Bible is a king that is godly, eternal, and inclusive of all nations. This king will rule from a standard of justice and righteousness that has the good of all creation in mind, who will show incredible compassion to those who need it most, and where true unity will be possible not from oppression or coercion, but from personal and structural renewal of people from every nation.

When God’s law is used to be a good person instead of revealing that it is God who is good and it’s us who are not good, it is the culture and the self, not God, that is the end goal. Being a good person points to how great we are and how great our culture is. Revealing a good God shows how bad we really are and leads us to Jesus Christ who is not only perfectly good, but is our highest good.

God took responsibility for Abram's personal life to be blessed and commanded Abram to take responsibility for the blessing of the national and the international communities. In Christ, we are blessed, so we in turn bless others.

Having one language, migrating together, and leveraging advanced knowledge and skill are all privileges that the people building the Tower of Babel experienced. It was not their privileges that condemned them, but the purpose they used it for. As Christ used his unique privilege for the good of humanity, so we are called and gifted with privileges for the healing of the nations.

Leveraging knowledge for power against God creates alienation against oneself, others, creation itself, and God. God shows his kindness not merely when conditions were perfect, but even after everything has been ruined.

Purpose, place, provision, and people mattered when it came to God's work of creation. It matters for us today as well. Just as personal and systemic reform is necessary for work, it is necessary in race relations. Just as the tree of life was able to undo a ruined paradise, the second tree of life, the cross, is able to undo a a ruined world to return God's creation to it perfect form and function.

The wholeness of personhood and the dignity of all human beings begins with the Triune God creating life.
