    Bio:
Mike has been a key figure in Bristol’s underground music scene for over four decades. Starting with the city’s first Black music pirate station, BAD Radio, in 1987, he championed soul and funk at basements and blues parties when it was largely absent from mainstream clubs. Through the 1990s he worked at underground record shops Time Is Right and Bang Bang, while holding a long-running residency at Lakota’s legendary 1 Love house night — recently relaunched to wide acclaim.
As founder of the much-loved Hot Buttered Soul night, Mike has played a vital role in shaping Bristol’s nightlife, supporting local talent and hosting major international artists. He now presents a monthly show on SWU FM, spotlighting underground sounds old and new, and remains a highly respected, in-demand figure — with a brand new house night launching soon.

    Bio:
Airsine is a producer and DJ from Brighton, UK.
He releases music on Paisley Dark, Tici Taci and on his own label, Slow Future Records.
Airsine selected tunes on this mixtape to help you feel connected to the spaces you walk through, whether they're natural or urban.
As you move through the mix, the tempo gradually and hopefully imperceptibly increases from 103 to 126 bpm, gently raising your heart rate and your stride.
    Have a great walk!

    Bio:
Ed Real has been raving and record collecting for 35 years and his mix for Music for Walking clearly shows the depth and breadth of his passion for both.
Ed made his reputation in the crazy days at the turn of the century with Music Week dance label of the year Nukleuz where he was head of A&R, touring the world as a DJ representing the sounds of the label and mixing TV advertised compilation albums that sold in their hundreds of thousands. Hell, he even appeared on TOTP! He got the job through running a record shop and promoting student raves back at Uni where he was lucky enough to have first dibs on swathese of seminal electronic white labels during the mid-90s. The club promotion continued and Ed lead the charge at legendary Sunday sessions ‘Riot!’ at The End in London where he caused mayhem with the great and the good of clubland.
In 2003 he co-founded one of the world’s first MP3 download stores, helping to shape the digital revolution. This innovative thread has continuted throughout his career, and Ed’s helped artist management clients such as Maceo Plex, Joris Voorn and Claptone navigate new platforms and chanels as technology has evolved. More recently he has co-founded Bristol independent venue Lost Horizon and organises Ravers2Runners who have become famous for organising charity runs at festivals such as Glastonbury and Boomtown!
Of his walking mix, Ed states; ‘Back in the 90’s I’d often create after hours mixes on cassette for my friends, throwing away genre restrictions and compiling the tracklist by vibe not rules. I loved making this mix for Music For Walking and hope you enjoy some of the weird and wonderful tracks from my collection of vinyl.'

    John C Bawcombe:
Over the last 15 years I’ve been lucky enough to share thousands of DJ mixes across different social media channels, and in the past two years we’ve also recorded more than 100 mixes live at our Balearic Burger events. One thing I’d never done, though, was record a mix of my own.
So this is a first for me — and definitely outside my comfort zone. I’m usually my own toughest critic, but I wanted to give it a go and be part of something that feels genuinely positive.
This mix is part of a new project called Music For Walking, created by my DJ partner and good mate Simon Lloyd. The idea is simple: combine music, movement and community, and use it to support some really important mental health initiatives. It’s not about perfection or ego — it’s about connection, wellbeing, and doing something that might help someone else feel a bit better on their day.
I’m really proud to be involved in this, mainly because of what it stands for. Mental health matters to all of us, whether directly or through people we care about. If music and a walk can help even a little, then it’s worth backing.
So if you’ve got some time, stick this mix on, get outside if you can, and enjoy a walk with it. And if you’re able to, please consider pledging a few quid to support the mental health causes behind the project.
Every listen helps, and every donation really does make a difference.
    Get your walking shoes on.

  • Music For Walking - Scott Cornwell
From his first gigs in the 1980s to shaping the West Midlands house scene in the 1990s, Scott Cornwell has always been driven by a love of eclectic sound. After stepping back in the 2000s, he returned with The Melting Pot on Vocal Booth Radio — a genre-blurring journey through soul, reggae, dub, disco, drum & bass, house, techno, hip hop, and jazz. Expect seamless blends, deep storytelling, and a dancefloor philosophy where boundaries dissolve and music speaks universally.
