Episode 8 of our verse-by verse study through the Book of Revelation.
We look at the Church at Sardis a dead or dying church and what it needs to do to be restored. A great warning and lesson for the modern church.
Part of this study looks into the Seven Spirits of God that Jesus holds in his hand. I mentioned I would share that portion of the note with the listener here;
The Seven Spirits could refer to what Jesus shared in John Chapter 14, where the number seven means the sevenfold ministry of the Holy Spirit.
⇒ He is the Comforter, the other Helper (John 14:16).
⇒ He is the Spirit of truth (John 14:17).
⇒ He is the personal presence of Christ (John 14:18-20).
⇒ He is the very special manifestation of Christ within the believer (John 14:21-22).
⇒ He is the abiding presence of the Trinity (John 14:23-24).
⇒ He is the teacher (John 14:25-26).
⇒ He is the peace of Christ (John 14:27).
Or it could be reference to the detailing of the Holy Spirit in Isaiah 11:2
"And the spirit of the lordshall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the lord" (Isaiah 11:2).
⇒ The Spirit of understanding
⇒ The Spirit of knowledge
To put it in the simplest of terms, the number 7 refers to completeness and the dying church needs the completeness of the Holy Spirit if it is going to revive.
