Fighting repetition and routine is futile in homemaking because entropy is real. Our job isnโt to keep things just so, but to keep rolling with real life and managing our resources with intentionality.
Sarah Nelson joins us today to chat about her progress over the last several years in seeing the real fruit and necessity of adapting routines to real family life. Sarah has been married and living in California for 21 years. She has two daughters that she home educates with the help of a local Christian Classical Hybrid School.

Having kids home all day means a lot of messes happen all day, every day. How can we deal with that? We don't want to be hovering hoovers with our kids' work and play. We can make routines that allow them to get involved in a project and still maintain order in the home.ย
EHAP is our family routine strategy for keeping entropy at bay without being crazy or going crazy.

Leann Erickson joins Mystie to chat about how the challenges of homemaking don't let up when all the kids are grown and gone. She shares how she shifted gears to adapt to a new phase of life and ministry.
Leann Erickson has been homemaking since 1994. She and David have lived in their townhouse in San Clemente, a coastal Southern California town, for 24 years. They have four adult children who were given a Christian education at home and at a local day school: a son in Phoenix who will be married this fall, a married daughter in Boston, and a daughter and son both studying at Grove City College near Pittsburgh. She is frequently on a plane to one of these cities in order to visit the kids, or to Minneapolis to visit her and David's parents. In her leisure time she enjoys reading, knitting, fellowshipping with their church family, studying foreign languages on Duolingo and going out dancing with David.

Today Elaine Shutt chats with me about how she learned to handle crisis mode when her son had medical emergencies and many following doctor visits - while she also homeschooled and worked part time. It was a challenging time, but even in the midst of it, she dug in and grew in her capacity and her sanctification.
Elaine has been married to her Jason for 16 years. They have three tween/teen girls and two young boys. She works outside the home part time as a teacher in addition to homeschooling her children.
