A few years ago we joined Scheana Shay and Brock Davies on Scheananigans to talk about their destination wedding in Mexico โ what the planning experience actually looked like behind the scenes. A full wedding weekend, a large guest count, a television production crew moving alongside the event, and yes, the unexpected moments that required the team to adjust in real time.
What makes this conversation special is that you get both sides: what the process felt like for Scheana and Brock as a couple, and what was happening from the planning side at the same time. We talk about why full-service planning is different from day-of coordination, the decisions that happened long before guests arrived, and what changes when a destination wedding also has a production schedule around it.
Then Shelby comes back to unpack what that wedding taught us โ and how it directly shaped the Simply Classic Social platform.
This conversation originally appeared on Scheananigans with Scheana Shay (Dear Media) and is shared here with permission.

Thank you Scheana, Brock, and the Scheananigans team.

The first booking feels exciting โ it makes the wedding feel real. But some of the most expensive planning problems happen before the couple even gets started: the venue booked before the guest count is clear, the date chosen before anyone looks at travel, the package signed because the starting price seemed to fit.
This episode is the foundation conversation:
- Budget range before venue shopping โ not a perfect category-by-category budget, a realistic range. Who's contributing? Confirmed or discussed? Does it include the weekend, attire, travel, the honeymoon? - The question that matters more than "what's your budget": what does that number need to include? - Guest count reality โ 70 vs 120 vs 200 people changes the venue, catering, rentals, transportation, staffing, and the kind of weekend you can create - Why a list of 150 invited does not mean 150 attending - Three priorities โ decide what matters most before a venue decides it for you - Location is not only an aesthetic choice โ who can attend, contracts, vendor availability, travel costs - A homework list: the one-hour conversation to have with your partner (no venue browsing during the meeting)
Next episode: our special Scheananigans crossover โ the real conversations behind planning Scheana Shay & Brock Davies' destination wedding in Mexico.

We're back. After a longer-than-expected break, Simply Classic Social returns โ and this season has a clear job: to talk about the decisions underneath the beautiful photos.
Couples have more inspiration than ever, and it isn't creating clarity. Everything is beautiful, everything looks urgent, and almost none of it tells you what should happen first, what it actually costs, or whether it will work for your wedding. That's the gap this season closes.
In this episode: - Why the show came back โ and why now - Weddings as one collective experience, not a collection of separate pretty choices - Why "wedding" now means the whole weekend: welcome parties, room blocks, transfers, farewell brunches - Where Simply Classic Social (the platform) came from: weddings live in too many places - Who this season is for โ couples first, vendors alongside - What's coming: budget conversations, destination weddings, resort selection, and a very special crossover episode
Next episode: What you should decide before you book anything โ budget range, guest count, priorities, and the order that saves you stress later.

Materials we love to work with include crepe, satin, silk, lace, chiffon, chantilly lace, Matte Mikado, organza, tulle, embroidery, and more. Wedding dresses styles include ball gown, Fit-to-flare, A-line, and Column. Necklines include strapless, V-neck sweetheart, and more.
Many of our dresses are customizable, you have options to choose the fabric, color, and type of sleeve. Along with our more classic styles, we also have newer trends like ombre dresses, long sleeve wedding dresses with tulle puff sleeves."

There is nothing better than working with a photographer that knows the latest hot spots to shoot , or the designer with the newest looks, this is the same when working with a planner that known the newest hot venues or gets the best deals because of long term vendor relationships.
