In this episode, I share some stories about my mother. She is the most influential person in my life and the reason why I have been able to accomplish what I have.
My mother was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the lung, stage four, on October 12th, 2012. I learned so much in the fifteen months that followed. I learned about the resilient woman who raised 5 kids while dealing with many ailments throughout her life, including seizure disorder, nervous system breakdown, high blood pressure, and more. She was incredibly strong. I did not know how strong she actually was until she went through radiation then the long months of chemo treatment. Both my sisters and my Aunt showed such strength in the face of the most devastating situations. I realized that these were my examples of faith, hope, courage, and love. They are my matriarchs. And although, I am stricken with the pain of great loss, I am filled with great joy knowing my mother ran her race and finished well. This episode is in honor of her.
I also dedicate this story to my sisters Nory and Melissa, and my aunt, Mayra. You are my examples. I thank God for who you are and I look forward to all that we will share together in the years to come...
