Simply Pickleball

Lindsey Newman and her brother Riley Newman made their debut in the professional pickleball tournament scene five years ago. After attending a Taylor Swift concert and driving through the night, they were thrilled to become the champions of the tournament. The siblings were immediately offered a sponsorship opportunity, which they accepted. Since then, both siblings have enjoyed a successful career in pickleball, consistently dominating their opponents. Lindsey is one of the few female players with young children on the tour and even competed in a tournament when she was six months pregnant. Learn more about her journey, her partnership with her equally talented brother, and how she balances motherhood with her professional sports career.

While attending a family reunion in early 2012, Gary Stocker's brother brought a temporary net, and some wooden paddles and taught the family how to play pickleball.   Gary was immediately hooked and has been playing ever since.  With a background in higher education research through his work as a College Viability Consultant, he knew that college pickleball would be on the rise and built his organization and website - US Collegiate Pickleball.  We discuss the current state of pickleball for youth and college students and what we might see in the coming years for college clubs, teams, and tournament play.

While on hiatus and after leaving the world of private equity, Josh Kim found himself with extra time on his hands.  One of his friends invited him to play pickleball with a group that met weekly, and he had been hearing about the hype, so he decided to try it out.  He was instantly addicted to the sport, and his entrepreneurial background kicked in.  He had a hunch that there was a hole in the market for value pickleball paddles. As it turns out, he was right. Since its launch less than a year ago, his first version of paddles is sold out, and the newest paddle has presold so many that he needed to increase production.
