As the Apostle Paul bears his heart before the Corinthians he brings their attention to his character and reasons for being in the ministry. Other ministers were coming into the church with lofty resumes and spectacular credentials—Paul would have none of that. His competency was found in God alone. He was empowered by the Holy Spirit. He was sent and commissioned by Jesus himself. Paul leaves no doubt in his readers mind—his motivation, sustenance, and competency in the ministry came from God almighty.
