Sinewave Radio

This week's selection is all about songs that give me attitude... Not songs that are hard to mix, but songs that give attitude in their lyrics or beats! I've brought back a few old school tracks in this mix, which has given me an idea for next week's mix!

So I'm trying something completely new - A mix without any vocals. In my day job as a software developer, it's a known phenomenon that it can be difficult or even distracting to listen to music with vocals when you're concentrating on something. So, I decided to try making a mix, sans voyelles - without vocals, because perhaps then it will help you work how I do! My first chillout set was so well received, I decided to do another chillout set - Because who doesn't love to chill out? But this time I'm focusing on one experience type of chillout music - Acoustic, chilled covers of famous dance/pop songs. I'm really happy with how this set turned out; as per usual, there's a few surprises in there, and definitely keep an ear open for Elisa's Dancing at the end of the set - An achingly beautiful, heart-breaking song.

So this has been a bit of a tricky episode to put together! Mostly because a few of the tracks are radio edits, not designed to be mixed together, but also because I decided in my infinite wisdom to mix from disco down to melodic house, via a few other genres too. But overall I'm happy with the result... Even if it's a day late!

So here's a special mix I've put together in the afterglow of the fantastic Mighty Hoopla Weekender last weekend at Butlin's Bognor Regis. The crowd and artists were so fun and positive, but after 3 days of partying, it's time for a bit of a chill out - Hence this mix. I've included lots of down tempo acoustic covers by artists that haven't yet hit the big time, alongside some of the bigger names that you will normally find on my sets. I hope you enjoy this break from normal, and we'll back to it next week with more melodic beats.

This episode of Beta is dedicated to all of the club kids, ravers, and party goers heading to the epic Mighty Hoopla Weekender at Butlins Bognor Regis this weekend. Mixed at a slightly slower rate than usual, a selection of melodic down tempo songs for you to relax and chat to your friends over, or to put on in the background for the next Hoopla party.

I will be in attendance too, and can't wait to see you all there!

This mix starts off with full blooded piano dance tracks, flashes back to couple of old classics, before settling down into more moody, deep house vibes. From energy to the downlow; it's the downturn.
