Black women have been fighting the battle to be heard and seen for what seems like, since the beginning of time. And you would think with all that is going on with the call for injustice to end ( since slavery was abolished) that we would have made it by now. But, aht-ta-aht that is still not the case here in 2021. We are still fighting to be taken seriously when we say we are in pain, or need help at hospitals. We are still fighting to be seen in the corporate world, and we are even fighting to be seen and heard by the people in our lives.
What's it going to take for people to hear us when we speak? That we mean what we said when we said it. Like, "hey man, I said what I said."
This week Brooke and Phara discuss the power of trusting your voice in every area of your life and what can happen when you let you voice be silenced.

This week on Single Moms Doing The Most, we ask the question "Are you ever done parenting?"
As your children get older parenting will evolve. You as parents turn into advisers, counselors, and consultants. But some parents have a hard time letting go and still see their grown adults kids; as people who still need parenting and guidance. In order to release responsible adults into this world, we have to cut the cord. Then there is the dynamic of children turning into parents as their mom and dad start reaching old age, a role reversal happens. So can you truly even be done parenting or does it just evolve as your children get older? Tune in this week to hear our thoughts.

This week on Single Moms Doing The Most, Phara and Brooke discuss the bombshell question. Can your child call your ex's new significant other mommy or daddy? We both have strong opinions on what we think. Is it fair or harmful and how secure are you when it comes to your child engaging with other people they may see as a second parent?
Are there situations where this would be okay and what boundaries and parameters as a mom, can you set without making your child feel like they've done something wrong. It takes a village to raise kids we all know that, and coparenting is it's own beast. So how do we navigate such a sensitive topic? Join the conversation and share your thoughts.

Dating and finding love as a single mother can already be a tricky situation, so adding a global pandemic to the mix has shaken up the dating landscape even more. Prior to covid-19, the most pressing issue for a dating single mother was getting a sitter so mama could go out and enjoy dinner and a movie. Now dates are being vetted via FaceTime, Zoom and socially distant meetings in the park. What are the rules? Mask...no mask? Do you wait out the pandemic altogether to begin dating? Decisions about if and when there might be physical contact are evaluated much differently than in the past — because now our kids and other vulnerable relatives are part of the equation.
In this episode, Phara and Brooke discuss what their dating life has been like in the past year during covid, and what (if anything) has been beneficial about dating during a pandemic, or if it has made things that much harder. Can love be found in the age of The 'Rona? Let's get into it!
Brooke Dean and Phara Joseph are BACK! The global pandemic has taken its toll on EVERYONE, and we were certainly no exception. The impact on single parents brought many of us to our breaking point, but we've bounced back and are ready to share our Rona stories from the past year with you. We discuss how the pandemic has affected us personally and professionally, how we have learned to cope and what we've learned about ourselves over the past year. How have you been managing as a mother during this unprecedented difficult time? What lessons have you learned....about parenting, your child, or yourself in the past year? As single mothers, we have a lot of challenges and The Rona certainly didn't help. But we're also strong, resilient, creative and amazing! We share our Rona stories and we want to hear how you've been dealing as well.

Self-love - it seems like such an easy concept to grasp. But what does it really mean to love yourself? It's more than self-care, or high self esteem. It's a journey that requires that you be intentional, dedicated and devoted to the practice of fully accepting and protecting your precious self at all costs. You are your most valuable asset, and how you treat yourself daily will impact you mentally, physically and spiritually. In this episode, we discuss how we should aim to love ourselves as if you were another person you love, that you have a relationship with. We share how we had to turn down the volume of our inner critic and choose to be our best cheerleaders. We want you to resolve to love yourself each and every day and watch your best self blossom and your greatest life unfold!

If there is one thing that unites us as (single) mothers, it's STRESS. If that isn't the case for you - THEN GREAT!!! Consider yourself blessed! Unfortunately however for the rest of us, all of this excess stress can lead to an increase in weight. You may not notice it at first, but stress can slowly creep up on you, and the next thing you know is you're experiencing muscle atrophy, headaches, irritability and notice your clothes no longer fit. Overwhelmed, and out of control, stress can takes a toll on your physical, mental and emotional health. In this episode, we talk about how we conquered stress and achieved a 180 lb. weight loss between the two of us in 2019. We share our stories of what it finally took to get the stressors in our lives under control and to shed the weight that was literally and figuratively weighing us down. Listen to this week's episode and share it with 10 of your friends! And tell us how YOU de-stress and keep yourself happy and healthy - we always need inspiration!
Thank you for listening - we love you for sharing!
