Publisher's Summary:
A sinkhole is a natural phenomenon. It can happen anywhere, anytime. It drinks lakes dry, consumes jungles, and even demolishes entire mountains. You may have seen one in your street. But these things aren't lost. They've simply been moved. Things are forgotten on the surface all the time. Beneath the crust, they're always remembered.
It's just another day for unscrupulous developer Graham Turner when he breaks into an old man's home to steal his property deeds. But when he's sucked through a sinkhole into a forgotten world deep beneath the earth's surface, Graham and the old man must rely on each other if they are to survive and escape this dangerous new world and return to the surface.
Sink. A forgotten world. A lost world. But not for long.

Fun little book
This book doesn't break new ground. The writing is just fine. The story is mildly intriguing. The good thing is this book has depth. No pun intended because it's about sinkholes. The characters are layered which is cool. There's lessons to be learned and growth from out protagonists. It's just the world that is created needed more time to be developed. It's an intriguing world but it just rushes by in such a short book. Some jokes hit. Other jokes fell flat. All in all it is a slightly above average book. It's short length makes it worth a quick read.
Amazing concept.
I have not read anything by this author but I will keep an eye out for more. I stayed up way past my bedtime to finish this one. We hear about sinkholes in the news all the time but I must admit I never would have thought there was anything that could survive them. The idea that there is a culture underground is not new but there can be movement between the two worlds through a sinkhole was new to me. Very interesting and good writing.
too far-fetched for me
An odd story, but with an interesting concept. Few of the characters were likeable, but the 2 main characters did change into decent people by the end of the story. I know it was fiction, but it was too far-fetched and too many things remained unexplained for me to really like it..
Very good story from a great author, well worth the read.
I am generally pretty good at being able to guess what is going to happen or what the outcome of a book or movie is. I blame it on the fact that I am constantly reading at least 2 books and watch movies very frequently. With Sink though, EVERY TIME I thought I knew what was going to happen, this book threw me for a loop. It was consistently full of surprises.
The characters were well developed and I even found myself feeling bad for them or happy with them when certain things happened.
The story line was well written and JUST close enough to reality to be able to put myself in their shoes, which makes for the best stories IMO.
My only complaint would be that I wish it had been longer!
Is there a Subterranean Civilization?
A story built more on human relations in a unique setting than an underground adventure. A good read, less than 2 hours time.
