He is author or editor of over 40 books on contemporary history, politics and education and is the author on, and honorary historical advisor to, Downing Street. His latest book "The Impossible Office?: The History of the British Prime Minister" chronicles the 300-year history of the office of the British Prime Minister, from Robert Walpole to Boris Johnson.
