Sisterhood at River Valley Church

Over 300 prophecies in the Old Testament point directly to Jesus, written by different authors, across different centuries, long before He was born. In this lesson we trace God's fingerprints throughout Scripture, seeing how every detail, from the family line He would come from, to the way He would die, to the promise of His resurrection, was written hundreds of years before it happened and fulfilled in one person. This is not blind faith. This is evidence. And the God who left those fingerprints throughout history is the same God who loves you, died for you, and rose for you.

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:5 (NIV)

From the promise made to Abraham in Genesis to every nation gathered before the throne in Revelation, God's heart has always been to build a family. In this lesson we trace that thread through Scripture, seeing how God used one man and one promise to open the door for every person on earth to be fully grafted into His family through Jesus. You were not born into the original vine, but through Christ, you are no longer an outsider looking in. You are a child of God.

Real life is real hard, and Scripture never pretends otherwise. In this lesson we turn to the book of Job to find wisdom for walking through suffering with faith intact. Job lost everything and yet never let go of God. Through his story we discover what it looks like to endure: being honest with God, refusing to quit, and anchoring our hope not in our circumstances changing but in the unchanging character of a God who redeems. Suffering is never the end of the story for those who trust Him.

From the garden to the cross, God has been relentlessly pursuing His people through covenant, a sworn relationship of loyal, unbreakable commitment. In this lesson we trace that thread through Scripture, from Adam to Noah, Abraham to Moses to David, seeing how every covenant was pointing to Jesus all along. At the heart of each one is not a legal transaction but a loving Father who initiates, pursues, and takes on the responsibility His people never could. The debt has been paid. The covenant has been sealed. And it cost Jesus everything.

In this lesson we trace the story of the priesthood all the way to Jesus, the perfect High Priest who didn't just bridge the gap, He closed it forever. From the very beginning, God’s heart has always been to dwell with His people. In this lesson, we’ll trace that beautiful thread through Scripture, from the Garden of Eden, to the Tabernacle, to the Temple, all the way to the moment the veil was torn in two at the death of Jesus. Every step of the story was pointing to Him, the true Temple, who made a way for us to have full access to God. And the most breathtaking part? God doesn’t just want to be near us, He actually lives in us. We have become a carrier of His presence.

We’re continuing our study within our curriculum of “Woven”. This week we look into how in the very first pages of Scripture, God created a world overflowing with goodness and invited humanity to partner with Him, live by His wisdom and reflect His image. But when humans chose their own way over God’s, a pattern of rebellion took hold that no human could break, until Jesus. This lesson traces that story from the Garden of Eden to the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus, the Last Adam, chose God’s will over His own and turned the tree of death into the tree of life.
