Eight days after surgery to remove a 12-inch tumor from his kidney, Scott Suprina still doesn't know if he has cancer. This is that conversation.
In Episode 1 of Sit On This, Scott and co-host Trevor Jackson trace the journey that started it all: a family trip to Costa Rica, four nights of ayahuasca ceremonies at a medically supervised retreat called Rythmia, a red-eye flight from LA where Scott vomited seven times, and the ER scan that changed everything. What they found was a mass the size of a forearm sitting on his kidney. The doctor had to say cancer twice before it landed.
But Scott's response was to name the tumor Carl, call it bad karma, have it removed, and show up to record a podcast eight days later.
This episode covers the origin story of Sit On This, what ayahuasca actually feels like in a room of 60 people, how Scott lost his business and rebuilt it with the help of a mentor who charged him nothing, why he believes the best advice only comes from people who are ten years ahead of you, and whether addiction is a disease or a choice.
Sit On This is a weekly podcast hosted by Scott Suprina, a New York entrepreneur, grandfather, and lifelong student of the school of hard knocks. New episodes every week.
