Stop asking “Why didn’t they do it?”

Start asking “Under what conditions do they do it right?”

Look at one of your best people:

  • When are they at their best?
  • What structure is present?
  • What disappears when execution breaks?

Because if you don’t know when your people perform best, you’re leading blind.

Consistency isn’t a personality trait.
