Skatewives Podcast

This week we're a little discombobulated. We're visiting family in New Hampshire, so our studio-quality-recording has suffered a bit. Regardless, we yapped! We discuss *finally* no longer being nomads, Ryan's new skate shop sponsor, the Copenhagen Open, the Jenkem 999 Challenge, and the Old Skaters Challenge. Emily realizes a few years too late how prestigious SoMa skatepark is, and forces Ryan to criticize her Half Cab attempt.

About Skatewives:

Skatewives are a community of people out there supporting their partners’ passions, expanding well beyond skateboarding alone. While we love our partners and respect their crafts, it is also nice to poke some fun at the realities of those obsessions.

Emily and Ryan check in on the Skatewives Video Part that is allegedly in the works, talk about Ryan’s weekend skating in NYC and the Tacky Joy Factory Premiere. Ryan is excited about the recent parts that have come out (Junior’s part, The Prince, Jamie Foy’s Aftermath part, etc.) and Emily is frustrated with her Ollies. A lot of yapping and giggles this week!

Recorded last week in preparation for some travel, a quick update from the people who bring you Skatewives. We chat about Season 7 of SLAP’s One in a Million (the one with Forrest Edwards IYKYK) and review Emily’s collection of bruises that have all appeared in the last few weeks. We finish up with a very n00b argument about what we call “frontside 180 kickturns,” and look forward to having more to discuss in a couple of weeks!

Emily and Ryan are in a silly mood as they discuss Emily’s first falls while skateboarding, spend far too long discussing how cool skaters need to be to make it, and reflect on a game of S.K.A.T.E. they watched and the skaters who have recently been dropped by their sponsors.

Thoughts on the Chris Cole "situation," the new Lakai team, and the launch of the Professional Skateboarding League. If you're watching us on video, you may notice our new and very-work-in-progress studio set up. Email us at [email protected] to let us know if you think having a globe in your podcast studio is lame or not, and send any topics you may want to hear us discuss.

Note from Ryan and Emily: this episode has been edited from its originally published form to remove a section discussing head trauma. We felt as though this discussion was poorly timed and distracted from our main reason in talking about the story: supporting Christine. We appreciate any and all feedback, and will take more care in these discussions in the future.
