Congratulations to Jordan Vocational High School from Atlanta on winning the Quaker State Best in Class Challenge! And even more success selling their build at West Palm Beach, FL for $50,000.  

The Best In Class Challenge is all about inspiring the next generation of gear-heads. We challenged the schools to restore a fourth-generation Ford Mustang back to its former glory – and each team delivered. After witnessing all the outstanding work this year, we know that when it’s time to pass the wrench these kids will be more than ready. 

Throughout the six weeks of competition, the five auto shop teams were tasked with a different challenge each week and were responsible for customizing, restoring, and fine-tuning a preowned Ford Mustang (valued at approximately $3,000) into a pristine, creative representation of their school.

Remember KC Mathieu and his infamous socks from Gas Monkey Garage…. then you know he left the shop, but do you know who replaced him?  We hear from KC Matthieu about why he left “Fast N Loud” and his replacement Mike Coy both speak up about all things…. K.C. Mathieu, owner of the renowned KC’s Paint Shop in Fort Worth, Texas, is putting the pedal to the metal. Learning from his father in an auto body shop in Crowley, Texas, KC began to take his passion and creativity to the next level.  KC has been featured on Discovery Channel’s hit series, Fast N’Loud, numerous national magazine article features, guest appearances on news and radio broadcasts and been a celebrity staple at car and trade shows across America. 

Mike Coy heads up all the current paint and body projects and has been painting cars since he was “knee high to grasshopper”.  If you didn't know it he is from “The Car Chasers” and Ethan D’s hometown of Lubbock, Texas.  Curious how he got on the show….then listen up!

Alex Roy hijacks the Skidmarks Show stage and runs the show his way, talking cars, technology and cross country road racing.   Who is Alex Roy you ask… he is a car enthusiast just like you or maybe not quite like you.  He may not be a tool holding wrencher but he is a calculator on gas mileage, a high speed driver and knows how to go to to the bathroom in a moving car. 

Alex Roy set the record in 2006 for a Transcontinental “Cannonball” driving record across the US in 31 hours and 4 minutes. In 2003 he won the Spirit Trophy on the Gumball Rally and in 2004 he won the Style Trophy for his Tron Theme.  You may recognize him from his appearances on /Drive, words on Jalopnik or his published book “The Driver: My Dangerous Pursuit of Speed and Truth in the Outlaw Racing World”.
