Ben Piper is the owner of Piper's Pit BBQ in Aliquippa, PA and works as a culinary instructor at Beaver County CTC. Bob has years of experience working in a variety places from fast food to country clubs. It's this experience and his passion for his work that allows him to prepare his students for workforce.

Culinary Arts is an instructional program that prepares students for employment related to institutional, commercial or self-owned food establishments or other food industry occupations.

Instruction and specialized learning experiences include theory, laboratory and work experience related to planning, selecting, preparing and serving of quantity food and food products; nutritive values; use and care of commercial equipment; safety; and sanitation precautions.

Instructional skills are provided to individuals desiring to become employed in all areas of the food service industry at entry level.

Students choosing to take the “ServSafe” Food Safety Certification class may receive college credit for attaining “ServSafe” certification and will qualify to apply for the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture State Food Safety Certification.Beaver County Career & Technology Center Links

Aaron Frumin is a carpenter by trade and Founder of Uncommon Construction. Aaron studied attended University of California Davis and graduated from Tulane University.  He worked in construction in Nevada and this planted the seed for Uncommon Construction.

UnCommon Construction uses the build process to empower youth with the skills, network, resources, and experience to lead the workforce after high school. 

At unCommon Construction, youth from different high schools apply to join a diverse team to earn hourly pay and school internship credit for building a house in a semester. With the revenue from each project, apprentices also earn a matching "Equity Award Scholarship" for further education, industry certifications or the tools needed for long-term employment. Through more than 100 hours each semester, apprentices develop career awareness and exposure, technical, soft skills, and leadership abilities through a work-based learning experience in a real-world classroom.
