I got invited to Nintendo HQ in Melbourne to go hands on with some upcoming Switch 2 titles including Mario Tennis Fever, Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata and the Virtual Boy. The Capcom stuff ran...surprisingly well on the Switch 2. Like...very surprisingly well, in fact.

Let's meet our hosts!

- Jake Baldino (aka the Before You Buy Guy) is pretty much the most watched reviewer on YouTube across both Gameranx and his personal channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/JakeBaldino). If you're obsessed with Delorians, The Mummy and Pizza you can discuss that stuff with him directly over on Twitter: @JakeBaldino

- Lucy James is a Senior Producer at Gamespot. She's actually, like, experienced and credentialed and has real life skills and stuff, while the rest of the gang would be funemployed if the YT algorithm didn't kiss them for random, inexplicable reasons.

- Skill Up used to work at McDonalds but he got fired for skimming too many chicken nuggets. He says he regrets it since he hasn't had a better job since.

Thanks to Squarespace for sponsoring the video. If you want to set up your own website (and get a discount while doing it), hit this link for more info: http://www.squarespace.com/skillup

MIO: Memories in Orbit isn't getting the same attention that other recent Metroidvanias have received, but it well and truly deserves a thoroughly look if you're at all a fan of this genre.

Setting aside all the noise around this game, the reality is that it's poorly optimised, poorly balanced, and its core game loops have not been nailed down yet. Progression, looting, weapon variety/rarity, map design, destructibility, character and kit designs - it all feels like a first draft. Highguard may one day be great (and I hope it gets there) but right now it feels like it would have benefited from an extensive closed beta testing program that would have identified and ironed out these issues before showing this game off to a live audience of 100m people.

Ashes of Creation's early access launch hasn't been the disaster some predicted it would be, but it's still very, very far from being finished and given how hostile the leveling experiencing is right now, the game may struggle to build playerbase necessary to help get it over the finish line.
