Episode 173 was recorded in the van shortly after leaving the Nick in Birmingham, AL, the final date of our "Beast Coast" tour. Heide Riggs joins us again to talk about our experiences on the road, and of course we kill/rescue some songs as well.

We'll be going out on the road again with Heide in July & August. In meantime, we have a couple shows with Chris Buckley coming up in mid-July (Houston & College Station).

But before all that: this THURSDAY, June 9th, Paddy will be playing a solo acoustic show at the Big Top in Houston, sharing the bill with Hugh Morrison and Joe Walmsley. Paddy goes on first at 9 PM.

Episode 172 was recorded late at night in Broomall, PA, a few hours after our gig in Rockville, MD. This is the second time we've done a show at the DevMo household (first time was Episode 138 last September). Fiddler Heide Riggs joins us to recap the tour so far, kill some overplayed songs and shine a light on some (by our estimation) underrated/under-appreciated music. At long last, this week we're joined by our old friend the Mighty Orq, brilliant guitar player, songwriter, and tremendously talented vocalist who has been all over the Houston music scene for decades. Blaggards have been honored to share the stage with Orq and his band many times in the past and it is an absolute thrill to finally have him on the show. We talk about Orq's influences, songwriting, how his latest live album came together, and what's coming up next for his band.

Orq is also a brilliant photographer and did our latest promo shots, but we didn't get around to talking about that this time. Not to worry, he will be back!

Luba has an amazing story that starts in Soviet-occupied Czechoslovakia and winds through Vancouver and New York City before landing here in Houston. He's been the house sound engineer at the Continental Club Houston for several years now, and is also brilliant songwriter, festival organizer and band leader.

Mark has been a fixture in the Houston music scene for years, playing bass with countless acts on stage and in the studio, including the Mighty Orq, the Allen Oldies Band, Trish Cramblet, Katie Rushing, Sam Morrow, Leon III, Charlie & the Regrets, and Mike Stinson... just to name a few. We talk about songwriting, the state of today's so-called "country music" and the shape of the music industry in general... and of course, kill off a few songs.
