Distant relatives from every corner of the map converge on a lonely manor clinging to a fog-choked coastline, all answering the same summons: the wealthy and reclusive Augustus Tupton is dead, and his will is about to be read. Over a formal dinner under watchful portraits and the sweep of a nearby lighthouse, a table full of misfits, opportunists, and true believers size each other up—each wondering who stands between them and a fortune. But the terms of the inheritance come with an unsettling catch, and as the storm closes in and nerves begin to fray, it becomes clear that someone in the Cliff House may have more than money on their mind.
About the Chronicle
Set in a stormy 1950s seaside town, The Cliff House follows a motley collection of heirs and hangers-on who are summoned to Augustus Tupton’s isolated estate for a week-long stay that will decide who inherits his fortune. Cut off by fog, pounding surf, and the cold sweep of a lighthouse beam, the guests must share cramped halls with old servants, locked rooms, and family secrets that never quite stayed buried. As suspicions grow and strange “accidents” begin to shadow the gathering, alliances form and fracture, and every creaking floorboard feels like a warning. In this slasher-fueled inheritance nightmare, the real question isn’t just who will claim the Cliff House—it’s who will live long enough to matter.
