Slashreport Podcast

Brace yourselves and step into a strange, magical place where history nerd and fangirls are one and the same on this weeks podcast, where we'll be discussing the infamous Hetalia fandom. Four veterans of Hetalia fandom are here to discuss our favourite things about it, reminisce about old wank and the way the fandom has changed, and try to explain just what it's all about.

Grab your church lady hats and pastel skinny jeans! Because the /Report is about to get fantastic elastic. This week, Dubu and B are discussing the colorful K-pop quintet that is SHINee. Join us as we ruminate over the finer points of a fandom that has brought us countless instances of gender confusion, mesmerizing bouts of pelvic thrusting, and an album with a visual concept that can be best described as "gay 70s porno". We will do our best to answer questions such as "Why is K-pop different from Western pop?", "How did five sparkly teenage boys bring all the noonas to the yard?", "How can dick pics be tactfully deployed to resolve fandom wars?" and "Seriously, what the fuck is a Shawol?" (Answer: Nothing good).

Regular /report episodes will return this February/March as long as nothing implodes.

Strip down, and dive in, /reporters, because Opalsong and RevolutionaryJo are here to talk to you about Free! Iwatobi Swim Club, the show that started out as simply the "swimming anime" and went on to become way better than it ever had a right to be. We'll talk about the show's reception in fandom, swimming accuracy, and uncanny knowledge of its audience, as well as aggressive stripping, Haru's canonical love affair with water, and how Nagisa always gets what he wants. [THIS EPISODE CONTAINS FAIRLY LARGE SPOILERS]

OBJECTION! Suit up and don't forget to bring your lawyer's badge,This week we are discussing the Ace Attorney series (Gyakuten Saiban/Phoenix Wright). Join us as we reminisce about our favorite cases, argue over which characters are the best, and hopefully convince you to pick up one of the games! This week's hosts can be found on Twitter at @fumblesmcstupd, @kazuhachen (The24thkey), and @Hmclearskies (MALLEfunction).

Laz and The Oscar Cat have infiltrated /Report and are taking over to ramble on about Alternate Universes and the fangirls who love them. Join us as we ask the age old question, just how many coffee shop AUs does any fangirl need in one lifetime? Laugh as we try and dubcon everyone into writing skateboard AUs. Roll your eyes as you realise Laz managed to blank out a whole slew of Harry Potter AUs. Swoon as you once again get to hear The Oscar Cat's sexy East Yorks accent. All complaints and hate mail can be directed at Pru and MK. Oops! Sorry. I mean directed at us via our twitters, LJ/Dws and Tumblrs!

Sharpen your axes and do a spot check for syphilis, folks, because Pru is joined by Twentysomething and Leupagus in this season-ender episode to talk about FOX's balls ass crazy new show, Sleepy Hollow. Did you grow up believing that it was just a quaint and Halloween-appropriate spooky story? INCORRECT. We talk about George Washington's bible, dig into the biblical definition of seven years, and court controversy left, right and center. Buckle up, because this rapidly turned evil horse is about to leave the station.

No fic recs for this week and that's the end of season three! Look forward to hiatus episodes and we'll see you in February. Don't forget to send in your hiatus episodes! You can follow us on twitter for more inanity during the hiatus.

Pile into the antique for this roadshow, /reporters, because this week MK and Pru are talking about the finale to Edgar Wright's Cornetto Trilogy, The World's End. We discuss what we liked about the movie (some stuff), what we disliked about the movie (more stuff), and where it fits into the context of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. Strap in, because this is going to be a hell of a trip down the Golden Mile.

Snap on your latex, /reporters, we're going into the lab. What did you think we meant? You guys are nasty. Anyway - this week, we kidnapped some (mostly) willing science nerds and dragged them down a long dark alley to talk about the scientific basis of some of our favorite slash tropes and universe building. We talk about mpreg, interspecies, parallel universes, time travel, and our favorite topic of all - knotting. So get your eye wash ready, we're about to hit the road.

This week is our two year /report anniversary, and to celebrate we're giving you almost 8 minutes of the worst of this podcast. If for some reason you've never listened past the closing music, we are so, so sorry.

Prepare for neural handshake, listeners, because MK, Pru, and Merelyn (with a special appearance by Sir Not Appearing In This Film, Twentysomething) are talking about Pacific Rim. Fair warning: if you really liked this movie - this is not the podcast for you. We chat about what worked for us in the movie, what didn't (a lot), and about all the Japanese mecha animes that are the cultural forebears of this flick.
