Slay Bells...
What exactly can I say about Mr. Remington Kane, other than I absolutely love 'em! So far, I've read 10 of the Tanner books, not including the Taken series which unfortunately I have to watch my pennies, so other than finding freebies or deeply discounted books I must abstain my growing passion for the Tanner series.
This writing talent surpasses most of the other stuff I get, and I'm grateful for every one of them.
Mr. Kane is a masterful writer, holding on the edge of my chair more often than not. I cherish the time I spend alone with my books, and theatre's no one better than Mr. Kane!
Kudos, sir! You have my everlasting gratitude for being able to read them!
Tanner outwits the bad guys.
The plot twist that brought Tanner into the case of the murderous Santas, while logical, reasonable etc etc, was detailed in such a way that I felt real pain for that protagonist, pain that did not get resolved, as it had nothing to do with the rest of the story; it was just the 'excuse' to get Tanner involved.
There were some other plot twists to make one smile and I just hope that the two somewhat nave youngsters Tanner befriended managed to cope.
Tanner was a knight at Christmas busy outwitting the bad guys so others could have happy holidays.
Never a dull moment!
This was my introduction to the world of Tanner. Superhero? Oh, yeah. Got all the bad guys, protected children and helped others along the way. However, I still want to see what comes next. The author kindly offered his next book (number 1, actually) for free (Kindle) this weekend and I took advantage. He writes an interesting tale; gruesome in spots, but with wit and a solid knowledge of the English language. As I said, I will be back for more. (Free is good.)
A hodge podge of unnecessary story lines
At the onset I thought the many characters would maybe intersect in a cogent and interesting formula. I was mistaken. The book jumped from terrorism to country bumpkins to crime families, what a mess. If the author had chosen one plot, one story and followed through it might have made sense. Unfortunately, I found some parts laughable and the rest could have been fairly enjoyable but it jumped around too much. Not my idea of a good experience.
Oh so many characters with different stories going on, you almost need notes to help.
It took me 4 days to finish, but finish I did. Kept putting it down and had to force myself to pick it back up. I have enjoyed Tanner books in the past, but this one - - not so much. Too much going on and too many characters. It did cause a few laughs at times just because everything was so convoluted.
