Lesson 16 a course in Miracles.
“I have no neutral thoughts”
Everything you see is the result of your thoughts. There is no exception to this fact. Thoughts are not big or little; powerful or weak. They are merely true or false.
A few times a day scan your thoughts and say:
This thought about _________ is not a neutral thought.
When you are irritated say.
⁶This thought about ____________ is not a neutral thought, because I have no neutral thoughts.
There is no throw away thought and if you believe it is meaningless then you lose the opportunity to see how it’s affecting you or not.
Every thought brings me peace or love, war or conflict.
I struggled sleeping the other night and figured out how not to be freaked out and decrease the sleeplessness.
When sleep doesn’t go as planned this is a start to figuring out how not to increase the anxiety.
1) Try not to freak out nothing has gone wrong, there is no certainty that you will be tired during the day or have a bad day.
2) Try to stay relaxed and use your awake time as a time to meditate, deep relaxation breathing or tapping. Even just relaxing will give your body the rest it needs to rejuvenate and you could even grow from it.
3) Don’t start watching TV or grab your phone.
The blue light emitted by your cell phone screen restrains the production of melatonin, the hormone that controls your sleep-wake cycle (aka circadian rhythm)(could take some melatonin)
4) Wake up at your normal time and do your normal morning routine to set your day up for success
5) Watch the critical self-talk about how you are going to be during the day and what the day will be like.
6) You can take your day a little slower and really stay present without rushing around.
7) Envision how well you are going to sleep the next night rather than worry if you will have another sleepless night.
