Screamfest 2018 marks the 18th year that the horror film festival will be showcasing features and short films, including the premiere of The Amityville Murders.

Horror icon Lin Shaye serves as this year's festival ambassador, and she talks with us about acting in horror films, and experiencing how much horror fans enjoy her performances.   [Listen to the show...]

This week, Imagine Science Film Festival programming director Nate Dorr talks about this year's festival and how broadly it's theme, Survival, is being explored by this year's features and shorts.

This week, director Jess Hutchinson and playwright Kristin Idaszak take time from their busy schedules to talk about their current production, "Second Skin", a haunting tale of mothers and daughters, secrets and regrets, told in three interconnected monologues.

It's a WildClaw Theatre production, and playing to rave reviews. "Second Skin" is running at the Den Theatre in Chicago through October 13.

This week, Summer welcomes fellow blerd Le Ill Kid from NERDSoul to chat about the Marvel TV shows we're currently obsessed with. Top of the list is "The Gifted", with Season 2 set to blow our minds starting September 25, followed by "Cloak & Dagger" which impressed beyond all expectations this past summer.

The Netflix shows are also on our minds, with 2018 seeing the release of "Jessica Jones" Season 2, "Luke Cage" Season 2, "Iron Fist" Season 2, and the upcoming "Daredevil" Season 3. Will we eventually see a "The Defenders" Season 2, or will we get a "Daughters of the Dragon" instead?

And yes, we might be willing to worship Matt Nix. Okay, that might just be Summer.

This week, Summer chats with horror filmmaker and artist Lynne Hansen, whose short films "He's Not Looking So Great" and "Chomp" made quite a splash when they were on the festival circuit, and now she's prepping to make her first feature length film, based on the upcoming novel "Cold Dead Hands" from Cemetary Dance, written by her husband, horror author Jeff Strand.

She's also started "Make Films Like a Girl", a social media space dedicated to promoting work by women filmmakers, and helping signal boost each other.

Jonathan and Josh talk about their background in advertising and wanting to expand their storytelling to making their own films. That journey began with the short film "Bag Man", which wowed audiences at SXSW 2015, and that opened the door to expanding that story into the feature "KIN".
