This week, actress Amber Midthunder stops by to talk about her role in the newest TV series set in the Marvel Universe, "Legion", airing Wednesdays on FX.

Amber has had roles in "Longmire", "Banshee", and has even co-directed a feature, "#NightsLikeThese", that won awards on the film festival circuit.

"Legion" is her first foray into the superhero genre, and as a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and mixed martial arts practitioner), playing a deeper hero character with the writing of showrunner Noah Hawley, this role is one she loves and is eager to see where it goes next.

Festival director Daniel Abella joins us to talk about the brand new New York Science Fiction Film Festival, and what inspired him to start up a companion program to the popular Philip K. Dick Science Fiction Film Festival.

Daniel talks about the phenomenal response when submissions opened, and how diverse the films were in content and in internationally created projects. Science fiction, supernatural and some with a slight horror flavor, there are plenty of shorts and features at the festival for genre lovers to enjoy. There's even a documentary about building a time machine, that was inspired by the H.G. Wells' classic tale.

Indie director Teddy Cecil joins Summer to talk about his award winning short film "Helio", which screened at both the Philip K. Dick Sci-Fi Film Festival and the San Diego Comicon Film Festival in 2016. We talk about making the film, future plans to make a feature length project from it, and expanding the story to other mediums.

"Helio" is a short, visceral film centered on a post apocalyptic underground society where miners work for light to survive. But when a dying rebel thrusts the unexpected onto an unassuming worker’s lap, all hell breaks loose. What begins as one man’s race to escape the hostile government quickly escalates into a city-wide uprising of the people.

This week, Noah and Daren join Summer to discuss the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it stands now, after the release of Doctor Strange. We dive deep into opinionated territory talking about Phase 2 and Phase 3, as well as the existing and forthcoming Netflix series, plus a little speculation about what stories might be being prepped for Phase 4 and beyond.
