Sanja Ivandic is a  Co-Founder of Outside Multicultural Magazine joins me on the show today. With her husband Vedran they created an online magazine with a goal to provide an online space, where integration, multiculturalism and diversity are supported. They feature texts, videos and content by authors with different ethnical backgrounds. We are covering all aspects and range of topics from everyday life. 

Expats and non-expats are writing about family, raising children, environment, employment, emotions, style, and politics. They feature people with different backgrounds, together in the same space and welcome people coming from outside. That is, people who dared to step outside of their home, their comfort zone, their country. Above all, they welcome anyone who thinks outside of the box and supports multiculturalism. 

Sanja Ivandic is one of the Co-Founders of Outside Multicultural Magazine. Sanja relocated to Ireland from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Inspired by the Sligo Intercultural Project she managed for a while, as well as her work in various NGOs such as LEDA and World Vision, this Magazine was born. 

Sanja wrote for several magazines, enjoys every form of writing, be it poems, case studies or prose. Her special skills lie in marketing. Currently, she is an Employment Advisor. 

Vedran Ivandic is a videographer, drummer, photographer and Outside Magazine co-founder, living in the West of Ireland. His videos depict Irish landscape, while many of them shed light on important social issues and crisis, such as video he produced raising awareness on suicide rates that are rising. 

Sanja & Vedran moved to Ireland, straight to Sligo in 2015, from Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she was born and lived for 30 years. They chose Ireland since the language and culture attracted us.

Outside Magazine is showing what it is like for the misplaced, for those who became out of place. We show what it means to accept this identity and love it, to despise it, to come from the outside. For instance, we find out what the outsiders have to say about life, no matter what they define as their home and what their geographical location is at the moment. 

So we do not only write about multicultural topics. In addition, we provide true equality experience, where locals and non-locals write about similar issues and experiences. Our community finds it interesting to explore each other’s perspectives on everyday matters. 

Sanja loves the nature of living in Sligo. There's the ocean, the lakes, river, forests, parks, so much and all nearby. People are welcoming and creative. It's all relaxed and very open.

Hello, my name is Clodagh & this is Sligo.Life.

I am a business and performance coach I enjoy helping people to design their lives and businesses their way. I’m passionate about reinvention, communication and systems - not just in business but in life.

I was born in Dublin, we came to Sligo when I was 2. My mother was from Cork and Dad, who was born and raised here wanted to move back home.

My sister, Melanie, and I had the most incredible childhoods growing up in the countryside. My memories are of having long summer days playing outside with friends, leaving cars & doors unlocked, cycling to school & peaceful nights living on a road of no street lights.

At 19 I moved to Dublin, after that I ventured to the U.K. Australia & New Zealand. I came back to Ireland in 2012, at the age of 39, in a cloud of heartbreak and a lack of identity. Living back in Sligo brought me back to life with the love of my family and the healing power of nature.

Each day following my return home I would look up to Queen Maeve buried on the top of Knocknarea and ask her “what shall I do now? what is going to become of me?” I still talk to her regularly when I am trying to figure things out.

I have been so lucky to rebuild my life back in Ireland, it has not been an easy path, there have been many bumps along the way however I’m still going and I am a big believer in the “what does not kill you makes you stronger” philosophy.

I work remote and have plans to build a retreat here in the future. I have seen more of the world in the past 23 years than I could even imagined. In November 2019 I took a 3 month break living in South Africa as I wanted to escape winter. On the return home, as I sat in the car with Dad coming into the outskirts of the Sligo, seeing Benbulben an idea emerged . . . I thought . . . “How many people live here with so many incredible stories?” and so Sligo.Life Podcast came into existence.

I have been podcasting since 2016 and even though I have no formal training I have loved learning how to ask questions from my guests to encourage them to share their stories and insights on my show Agency Life.

Here we are episode one an introduction about the show and a little about me. I am really looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Who will be on the show? People who live in Sligo and I am going to ask them questions about what they do to help people, why they love living in Sligo, what worries them, what are they looking forward to in the future and much much more.
