After 10 years of growth there, while only in his mid-thirties, James made a risky move and left Synovus for the opportunity to become President of River City Bank, a private start-up enterprise he and his team founded in 2007 in Carrollton, Georgia.

His coach had a special way of growing the club's engagement as he paid heavy attention to the collaboration between club members which brought them a high success rate on their debates.
