Jay has a cool experience to share relating to the recent announcement around a new All Black from little old Cambridge! Ben as you may have worked out, is all into fermentation and gives some details about the next beer he wants to brew. The German style "Berliner Weisse". This a pale, cloudy, sour beer, low in alcohol and is refreshingly tart. Traditionally fermented with Lactobacillus bacteria and Saccharomyces yeast, the lacto bacteria produces the lactic acid, while the yeast produces the alcohol in a co-fermentation. If left unpasteurised, this would technically be a probiotic beer since consuming Lactobacillus bacteria has been found to have positive effects on health and wellness.

The Imperial College of London conducted analysis that reveals lower levels of serum iron (Iron in your blood) is associated with a longer life span! Help others and help yourself by giving blood!

"Patch" or "Patch Boy" as most people call him is a legend in the New Zealand live event and production industry. He's the man behind managing a lot of the live shows or events you would have attended over the years. We get a bit of history about how he got into the industry (which has its roots in "The Church" and Christian Music). We spend a decent amount of time unpacking that part and then talk a bit about Parachute Music festival. And then transition into talking about other artists and musicians he's worked with over the years. I've wanted to start documenting this aspect of the NZ music scene for a while and I think this was a great place to start. Please share it with anyone who you think might enjoy it.

I've been excited about this one for a while! After a quick reminiscent chat about Justin Bieber style hair, Jay and I talk about health and wellbeing. I'm big time into gut health and fermented foods. I run an Instagram page called Fell Fermenting which you can find below where I post pictures of sourdough bread, sauerkraut, kombucha and other fermentation projects.

I wanted to take this opportunity to trial Jay with some of the health hacks that I've learnt and applied in my own life in the last few years. Gut health touches all areas of the body with a few of the main ones being immunity, neurotransmitters and absorbing the nutrients out of the food we eat.

I think if I can help Jay address a few areas of his diet and lifestyle, it might help bring his body back into balance. Let's see if it works!
