Asa (pronounced “awe-sa”) had a city career that was flying but a love life that certainly wasn’t. Quite the opposite in fact. Reaching 30 and having spent endless time on disappointing dates, swiping on dating sites - of which she is highly critical - “It doesn’t work” she says, Asa decided to quit corporate life and turn her frustration and passion into profit. Asa is now a professional Dating Coach and Match Maker. Asa is taking a literal swipe at the world of online dating and dating apps by taking a more old school, offline and personal approach to match making. All clients are interviewed personally by Asa. Paul Viner has been a busy man. After some micro-celebrity as the Chief Financal Officer for Tottenham Hotspur FC, something he describes as an ‘unusual job’, Paul entered the world of restaurants, where he successfully helped to guide Giraffe Restaurants through expansion and eventual sale to Tesco, which he oversaw. Swapping giraffes for sushi, he then stepped into the CEO hot seat at Feng Sushi, whilst cultivating his own consulting and mentoring business called Intelligent Goat. The name was coined, he admits, whilst severely jet lagged after a trip to Chicago. Paul imparts some great wisdom in this wide ranging interview. After being born with no hip sockets and spending the first three years of her life lying on her back, Sally-Anne Wertheimer was crippled with arthritis by age 34. Written off by doctors and heading for a wheelchair, Sally-Anne took matters into her own hands and completely cured herself through nutrition. She has gone on to climb Kilimanjaro and now, aged 70, lives pain free and in the rudest of health. Sally-Anne now helps others achieve the same through her Oxfordshire-based clinic called Abolish Arthritis. In this uplifting and heart-warming interview, Sally-Anne pulls no punches as she explains how her grandmother fed her sweets as a child, which led to a sugar addiction and fuelled her arthritis. Sally-Anne tells of the one doctor who gave her hope and a piece of paper, upon which lay a set of instructions, which were to become her salvation. After a mere three years, her arthritis had disappeared completely. That was thirty years ago and she has lived pain free ever since. Sally-Anne talks emotionally about how both her faith and the unwavering support of her three sons got her through the tough times. After fleeing the war in Bosnia in 1992, Edin arrived at Heathrow with no more than a bag and the shoes he was wearing. Edin charts his remarkable journey from asylum-seeker to building and successfully selling his own pizza delivery business to Pizza Express in 2016. Now an investor, Edin recently bought his local pub, The Red Lion, in Ealing, West London and is busy turning it into a music venue. Edin is someone who thinks big. In this episode we are joined by the charismatic Greg Mangham. Founder and Chief Executive of an inspiring new charity called “Only A Pavement Away”, Greg has a wonderful way with words. He tells, with great humour, the story of his rise through the ranks of the hospitality and leisure industry. "If you could drink it or bet on it, I was there” is the phrase he uses to describe the early part of his career. That was all before walking through The Strand in London one night with his wife, Gill and a throwaway comment regarding the number of homeless people sleeping on the street on the pavement around them. Not lost on the fact that the hospitality sector that he knows and loves has a massive shortage of workers and seeing the people around him without a home, without a job and without hope, Greg immediately put an idea into action to help people off the streets and into employment in hospitality. The idea grew wings and after gaining the early support of some key movers and shakers, Only A Pavement Away was born. Greg has since sacrificed and closed down his successful consulting practice and Gill has given up most of the space on her dining room(!) to make room for this inspirational movement that had its inaugural conference at The Hospital Club in March 2019.
