After the hot start… we talked about “the only way to have white teeth”, some exciting business meetings we had, and then FINALLY we start bringing you guys some actual relevant dental content!

I’m sure most of you have seen the various versions of charcoal toothpaste floating around. Does anyone know if it actually works for whitening teeth? Or is it just a gimmick? Dr. Dom gives us some insight on that topic, and discusses whether it’s safe to use.

In this episode of the podcast, Nick and Dr. Dom sit down for a chat before the day of dentistry begins. They talked a little bit about Dr. Dom’s approach to treatment planning for his patients, and how he will always try to do what is best for them. Not necessarily what they think they want.    For example, people will often try to opt for dentures rather than bridges, crowns, or implants, without realizing the effects of removing teeth. Like losing 90% of bite force when you have dentures. That will drastically change the way you eat for the rest of your life, and prohibit you from enjoying many foods you were once able to eat. Or at least, make it much more difficult to eat certain foods (like steak).   That’s why it is so important for us to take care of our teeth, and keep up with our daily oral hygiene routine. BRUSH YA TEETH PEOPLE!!!  And if you want to know how to fight sensitivity, Dr. Dom explained why Sensodyne Rapid Relief is the absolute BEST toothpaste to use. It uses stannous fluoride which can help “build a barrier” on your enamel to protect the nerves and in turn, drastically reduce sensitivity. Sensodyne Rapid Relief can even be used as a spot treatment on super sensitive spots!   

Best way to use Rapid Relief toothpaste: Brush your teeth using Sensodyne Rapid Relief DO NOT rinse with water! This will allow the stannous fluoride and other active ingredients to supercharge the tooth with mineral ions! (super fancy, I know lol) If you can, wait about 30 minutes until you eat or drink anything. If you have a really sensitive spot, you can use the toothpaste as a spot treatment. Just apply the paste directly to the sensitive tooth, and allow it to do its thing!  

 Pro tip: You can use your Dazzle Direct custom whitening trays to treat sensitivity. Just apply the toothpaste to the tray, and wear the tray for 30 mins. Then spit out the toothpaste, and again, don’t rinse with water to allow the active ingredients to mineralize the teeth!
