And yet this is a perfect time to reflect on where we’ve been in the past 12 months to determine the direction that our life is going to be moving in the future. 

Take some time today to reflect and take an honest stock of the last year BEFORE you determine your next year will better enable you to learn from your experiences and make sure your plan is in a good place.

Collaboration held up as one of those highest things that we set to have on our teams. And yet it’s too easy to just say “why don’t you collaborate” as opposed to setting the conditions for it to actually happen. 

So when we say that, how can we actually help to ensure that it happens? 

1. Creating co-ownership of the outcome - giving them input and a stake in completing what’s assigned

2. Creating a framework for them to work from

3. Asking prompting questions (in person or in a Google Doc)

4. Giving direction (in person or in a Google Doc) 

5. Facilitation

6. Open Office Hours

Understand that some of these things are part of leadership and will never get fully out of your hands. But we can also train habits, like prompting questions or the value of a directed meeting. Those things will build over time and you’ll find that people do it themselves. Encourage and celebrate that they are doing this when they do.
