Apparently, Britons spend more than 9 minutes a day complaining. In a year, three whole days would be wasted on complaints and in a lifespan of 70 years, seven months of precious life are lost in complaints. Unless we are willing to get involved to change the things we complain about, perhaps we shouldn’t waste our pressure time on such a fruitless activity. Stop complaining and start taking fruitful action to change those things that bother you in life.

In a recent poll of 1254 adults ranging from in age from 18 to 80, 30% of all millennials interviewed said they were lonely in their life, and 22% said they had no friends. Loneliness is often indicative of isolation both from oneself and society. When you’re lonely, you often back yourself into a corner believing nobody knows what you’re experiencing or cares. This is not true. Loneliness is a human condition that everyone faces, reach out and let others know of your struggle. You’re not alone.

Have you noticed how judgemental we are with ourselves and one another?

In this episode, we investigate what the idiom “Don’t judge a book by its cover” means.

We are experts at pattern recognition, assimilating data and naming it. We believe this is learning, but it’s not. Many stop learning the moment they can name something and instead resort to recognising patterns and making judgements. None of us likes to be judged, and we need to remember that in the library of life, we each have a unique ISBN but come from the same printing press. When we treat each other with curiosity, empathy and compassion, it is impossible to judge a book by the cover.

Day 306 of 365 Snippets of Encouragement - A One Year Project conceived by Angela Barnard.

Spending time with my 6-year-old great-niece was a joyous reminder to get excited about the simple things in life. Savannah often said, “Ah I’m excited to try that out,” reminding me to be excited for all of life’s many experiences. When we raise our vibration to excited anticipation, then we experience more wondrous moments of joy in our lives, especially for the simple things.
