Cs: Je tichý zimní večer.
En: It is a quiet winter evening.

Cs: Venku sněží, vločky pomalu padají na zem a celý obytný čtvrť se pokryl bílou přikrývkou.
En: Outside, it's snowing, snowflakes gently falling to the ground, and the entire residential neighborhood is covered with a white blanket.

Cs: Světla blikají na střechách, kouř jemně stoupá z komínů a všude je cítit vůně Vánoc.
En: Lights twinkle on rooftops, smoke gently rises from chimneys, and the scent of Christmas is everywhere.

Cs: Jiri stojí u okna a sleduje sníh.
En: Jiri stands by the window watching the snow.

Cs: Dnes měla být velká rodinná oslava.
En: Today was supposed to be a big family celebration.

Cs: Katerina, jeho dcera, měla brzy odjet do ciziny za novou prací, a tohle mohla být poslední velká rodinná sešlost na dlouhou dobu.
En: Katerina, his daughter, was soon leaving for a new job abroad, and this could be the last big family gathering for a long time.

Cs: Katerina přichází do pokoje.
En: Katerina comes into the room.

Cs: "Tati, nebude problém, když to zrušíme.
En: "Dad, it won't be a problem if we cancel it.

Cs: Počasí je hrozné," říká s lehkým smutkem v hlase.
En: The weather is terrible," she says with a slight sadness in her voice.

Cs: Jiri se zamyslí.
En: Jiri thinks it over.

Cs: "Ale Marek bydlí blízko.
En: "But Marek lives nearby.

Cs: Mohu pro něj zajít.
En: I can go and get him.

Cs: Nezrušíme to úplně.
En: We won't cancel it completely.

Cs: Chci, aby sis pamatovala tento večer," odpoví odhodlaně.
En: I want you to remember this evening," he responds determinedly.

Cs: Venku je sněhu víc, než čekal.
En: There is more snow outside than he expected.

Cs: Cesta k Marekovi je klikatá a chůze není jednoduchá.
En: The road to Marek's is winding, and walking is not easy.

Cs: Jiri se drží plotů, ale nakonec dorazí k Marekovu domu.
En: Jiri holds onto the fences, but he eventually arrives at Marek's house.

Cs: Marek otevře dveře a usměje se.
En: Marek opens the door and smiles.

Cs: "Přemýšlel jsi o zrušení, viď?
En: "You thought about canceling, didn't you?

Cs: říká s úsměvem.
