സംവിധായകൻ വി.എം.വിനുവിന് തദ്ദേശ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിൽ മത്സരിക്കാനാകില്ല. വോട്ടർ പട്ടികയിൽ നിന്ന് പേരു നീക്കം ചെയ്തുവെന്ന് കാട്ടി വി.എം.വിനു നല്‍കിയ ഹർജി സെലിബ്രിറ്റിക്ക് പ്രത്യേക പരിഗണന നൽകാനാകില്ലെന്ന് വ്യക്തമാക്കി ഹൈക്കോടതി തള്ളി. വോട്ടർ പട്ടികയിൽ പേരുണ്ടോ എന്നു പോലും നോക്കാതെയാണോ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിൽ മത്സരിക്കാനിറങ്ങിയത് എന്നും കോടതി പരിഹസിച്ചു.  

Director V.M. Vinu will not be able to contest in the local body elections.The High Court dismissed his petition regarding the removal of his name from the voters' list, clarifying that special consideration cannot be granted to a celebrity. The court also mocked him, asking if he set out to contest the election without even checking whether his name was on the voters' list.
