So, You Like Horror? #33- The 1960s

Listen Later

What's up, everybody? This week on the podcast we continue our journey of horror films through the decades as we talk about the 1960s. I welcome back, Rikki Tikki Timber (Sharknado episode) to talk about the societal effects horror experienced during the decade. The 1960s introduced us to humanized, character-driven horror where we really get a feel for psychological thrillers. Viewers get to watch films mature into taboo topics and the use of supernatural and gothic elements. The decade also saw the rise of Alfred Hitchcock, Roman Polanski, and George A. Romero as filmmakers. We discussed a few films we watched related to the era and also investigate what inspired some of the films based on the culture surrounding them.
