For this episode I spoke w/ former world champion kickboxer, world champion boxer, nutritionalist and author of two books, "The Fighter's Kitchen" and the recently released, "So You Want To Be A Fighter" (links for both below).
Chris told me about his growing up in combat sports and his first professional fight career as a kickboxer, we spoke about the transition to professional boxing and his path to the eventual world title winning fight against Ruslan Provodnikov where Chris was a 15/1 underdog and had his orbital bone broken in the very first round.
Chris spoke about the highs and lows of the fight game, the social sacrifices necessary to live a champion's life and gave an insightful look into the inner thoughts of a fighter during extreme adversity in the ring.
We discussed Chris' recent book, "So You Want To Be A Fighter" which details stories about the less glamourus side of being a professional fighter from Chris' own career and many others. Links for the book is below and it's available also on Audible which is where I got it. I'd highly recommend it for both fight fans and laypeople alike, very honest stories and a great read (or listen).
