Hi everyone and welcome back to a new episode!
This time, I'm chatting with Karim Debbah who's a marketing expert from Belgium.
For over 15 years, Karim worked for Disney, in the Buena Vista team for the Benelux region. He shared some incredible memories from his time at the house of mouse.
These days, he still works in marketing but his attention has shifted to the Indies market - he worked on a promising Indie flick called "La Nuit se Traîne" ("Night Call" for our English-speaking listeners) that might be getting an American adaptation in the near future.
Karim shares how and why he officially left the film industry but stayed close; a real message of hope that confirms that, yes!, there is a life after working in the film industry :)
Enjoy!

In this episode, I am talking to Laura Espinoza who wears two hats in two very different industries: she's a Production Coordinator in Film and a Senior Quality Coordinator in the Medical Field.
Her story is one of following your passion whilst sticking to your roots and following your parents' dreams and aspirations. Born in Glendale, California to immigrant parents from El Salvador, Laura's life path is nothing short but inspirational.
And this is why this is our December episode - one that is full of reflection, balance, dreams, hopes, aspirations, kindness and laughter!

In this episode, I am chatting with Doctor Kara Wooten who's a stunt woman, an actress, a producer, an intimacy coordinator and college professor.
Her career in TV, Film and Theatre spans across 3 decades and it was so interesting to learn about her professional path.
Her take on intimacy being a form of violence and the links she builds between stunt work and intimacy coordination open up a whole new reflection around the topic of violence against women.
Just a warning that this interview has a few dog sighs and cat flap sounds - I think it adds up to the quality of the episode!

This month, I'm chatting to Paul HARROD - he has kindly shared his short bio so, please see below for Paul's impressive CV:
Paul has worked three decades as a designer, art director and director of both
animated and live action projects, with a special emphasis on stop-motion animation.
In his capacity as a designer, model maker and sculptor, he lent his skills to such diverse projects as sculpting aliens for Star Trek V and designing and building miniature sets for the opening titles of Pee Wee’s Playhouse.
Specializing in designing environments for visual effects and stop-motion projects, he set the tone for a variety of commercial campaigns, including the first several Chevron “Talking Cars” spots at Aardman Animations in 1994, a campaign which continues to this day.
Harrod served as Senior Art Director at Will Vinton Studios from 1995 through 2001, overseeing the design demands of all studio output. He served as production designer and episode director on the Fox TV series, “The PJs” for which he was nominated for an Annie award in 2000.
His animated commercials for Tractor Supply Company (TSC) produced at Bent Image Lab received awards and attention for their outstanding creative design and dry, understated humor. TSC’s “Koi Pond”, was voted one of the 50 best spots of 2006 by Adweek. He has directed numerous commercials for clients including Kellogg’s Twistables, Quaker, Chips Ahoy!, Hallmark, Ensure, Cartoon Network, Lowes, Aflac and AT&T.
In 2015 he was co-Production Designer with Adam Stockhausen on Wes Anderson's stopmotion feature, Isle Of Dogs and received the 2019 Art Directors Guild award for Excellence in Production Design for an Animated Feature.
“My visual style has always been guided by a love for cinema history, and since 2007 have curated monthly film screenings at Mother’s Velvet Lounge in Portland OR, where I live with my wife, the internationally acclaimed filmmaker Joanna Priestley.”

For the 8th and last episode of season 1, I spoke to Sarah Little who is a producers' assistant in London.
Sarah had a very successful career in social media until 2 or so years ago. That is when she gave it all up (in a very organised and clever way!) to chase her dream to work in the film industry.
Now, she is a producers' assistant and her days are filled to the brim by a multitude of tasks, from making cracking cuppas to organising test screenings, from production meetings to teaching Scarlett Johansson how to use boil-in-the-bag rice!
It was fascinating to chat to Sarah about her career change and a lovely, inspiring way to end the first season of the podcast - here is to many more :)

In this episode, I chat to Steve Wilsher who is a stunt professional. He started his career in Wales in 1974 and is now living and working in Canada.
Steve has so much experience and so much anecdotes, it was really hard to edit our chat down to 40 minutes! We talked about his career, his many hats within the stunt world, Tom Cruise and his determination - the characteristic of a Welshman!
We also had a special guest - Steve's dog - who is mentioned a few times and makes an appearance with his squeaky toy :)
If you want to check Steve's impressive career, here is his IMDB profile: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1036230/
