Social Etiquette episodes

  • Education, Communication, Conversation, & Motivation

The Uncle of George Floyd, Selwyn Jones, joins us for a casual conversation about the events of 2020, race, justice, and life.

**As is natural when having an unscripted conversation about serious, sensitive, and nuanced topics, mistakes were made, things were poorly explained, or entirely ignored. You are free to dispute anything discussed and we'll be happy to clarify any misunderstandings **

    We are making space. Also
    centering. And amplifying. But also
listening. While at the same time
    elevating.

    • Special Guests - Selwyn Jones, Jacoby Jones, & Fred whose last name I still don't know sorry Fred

  • (Cult)ural Approximation

Everything is everything. Too much leisure & not enough biz. I honestly have no clue how else to describe this episode. It made the final cut though, so  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ you know it’s good.

    Corrections:
    - First black supreme court justice was Thurgood Marshall
    - autodidactic means learning alone, and heterodidactic is group learning
    - cointelpro directly named Stokely Carmichael, not Fred Hampton

  • Daddy Issues

This is an oldie that was inspired by patriotic feelings around the Fourth of July. We dive into the sins, and accomplishments of our forefathers. Shame, shame, shame... and a bit of honor.

  • In The Weeds

Corey and Brandon discuss South Dakota's high society. Don't forget to bring a towel.

    Corrections:

    • Measure 22, an anti-corruption initiative drafted to no longer allow lobbyists to give politicians unlimited and undisclosed gifts, was voted on in 2016 and received 51% of votes in favor. In February 2017, state legislators declared a state of emergency to repeal the measure, with then Governor Daugaard saying, "I think it's possible that many voters were either unconcerned or unaware of the degree to which those dollars would be impacting the budget.”

  • The Pridecast (with Megan Snow & Haley Bowman)

Our episode begins with a half-baked rant about baseball, but don't stop listening! In honor of Pride month we invited a very special guest onto the show. Megan Snow! Snow is the founder of Aberdeen Area Pride, and organized Aberdeen, South Dakota's first ever pride event this year. She was joined by her girlfriend, Haley Bowman, and we had a fun discussion about the event, coming out and meeting each other, and we get to the bottom of the "Mormons vs Oceans" myth.
