We’ve been drawn to stories—movies, theater, storytelling—since as far back as the 6th century. Why? Because they give us an escape. They let us step outside of our everyday lives and imagine something bigger. We connect with characters, we admire their strengths, and sometimes we even aspire to become a little more like them.

But what happens when the line between entertainment and reality starts to blur?

What happens when the “stage” is no longer something we step into for a moment—but something we live in every day? When we stop compartmentalizing what we watch, and instead begin shaping who we are around what gets attention?

At that point, we’re no longer just the audience—we’ve become part of the show.

And that’s where things get complicated.

Social media is a powerful influence. It can shape how we think, how we see ourselves, and even who we believe we’re supposed to be—all based on what an algorithm decides to put in front of us. It’s subtle, but it’s constant.

And for our generation, this might be one of the biggest challenges we face.

How much is too much?
Who are we without the likes and comments?
And maybe the most important question—what does this mean for the next generation watching us?
