I discuss the fundamental points of the article by Columbia professor Barbara Fields. I end with a dire call for socialism and a call to stop using slave owner created ideology of the past- black and white races. Anything premised within this framework of races legitimizes the ideology. 

1. Racism/Slavery came before the ideology of black/white races. 

2. The ideology of races is a social construct. It has no scientific validity.

3 The Atlantic Slave Trade was driven by economic aka "practical" means- getting the most profit aka $$$

4. The Portuguese and British were by far the most prominent slaving nations. Only WESTERN European nations took part in the slave trade. 

5. The terms black and white (to describe people) is the language of the oppressor NOT the oppressed. African slaves in America and their descendants did NOT see themselves as a "race" but rather as a nation.
