This might be one of the most important episodes I have ever made and it's a topic that every practitioner struggles with. A major component of the treatment process is effective communication and education for the client of what they need to do to help assure a good outcome.
Too many clients live in a fantasy world where they get injured doing stupid shit to their bodies, only to go right back to doing the same dumb shit. How can anyone expect something to change if they are unwilling to change their activities and lifestyle?
This leads to a lot of frustration on the part of the practitioner and not getting the client a resolution for their injury, all because we are afraid to tell the client exactly what they need to hear, but instead avoid that conversation altogether.
Our clients come to us for a reason, because we have a unique set of skills to help solve their problems and want us to give them guidance on how to get better.
In this episode, I answer a great question from a practitioner on how to properly handle these situations, what is really going on with the client, and help you understand the importance of proper communication in the treatment process.
