Our weekly roundtable is back!

The Trump-mob syndicate that has taken over the federal government is being exposed, but from criminality to tariffs that hurt U.S. farmers and businesses, will it make any difference to Republicans who despite five Trump administration convictions or guilty pleas, are standing by their man? Indeed, the GOP in July collected its highest month in donations: $14.2 million. And, according to Politico, almost twice the amount the Democrats raised during the same period. Meanwhile are Trump’s threats against Jefferson Sessions a distraction or could it become a reality after Congressional (midterm) elections this fall?

And Trump is ensuring his status as “white supremacist in chief” globally and internationally on two new fronts: one, using the murder of Mollie Tibbitts by what seems to be by an undocumented immigrant to fan the flames against immigrants from Mexico and other countries south of the border, as well as to make renewed calls for building a wall. And in the midst of all this it seems as though mmm has forgotten about the hundreds of migrant children kidnapped at the border by the Trump administration who are being held in what can only be described as torturous prison camps and who may never be reunited with their families.

Two, on the international front, Trump has asked his Secretary of State to look into South African land and farm seizures and large scale killings of [white] farmers. Meanwhile U.S. weapons were used by Saudi Arabia to kill 22 children, a hit the Saudis have said was a “justified” military target.

But growing movements are fighting back, from the Poor People’s Campaign, to the national prisoners’ hunger strike now underway in the U.S. to anti-racist students toppling over the statue of “Silent Sam,” long a symbol of the Southern Confederacy and racism on the campus of UNC, to teachers in Los Angeles threatening to go on strike.
