In the wake of Donald Trump’s Department of Justice's announcement to end DACA, we speak with Christian Avila, National Civic Engagement Coordinator for Mi Familia Vota. Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, put in place in 2012 by President Obama, has protected nearly 800,000 young adults – brought to the U.S. as minors – from deportation, and has also given them opportunities to legally work and study.

Today, we speak with Christian Avila, DREAMer and Mi Familia Vota's National Civic Engagement Coordinator, about Donald Trump’s Department of Justice's announcement to end DACA. The program, put in place by President Obama, has protected nearly 800,000 people, brought to the US as minors, from deportation. In a tweet, Trump gave Congress six months to come up with immigration legislation to address DACA.

In a move that astonished governments around the world, Kenya's Supreme Court has nullified the August 8, 2017 presidential election due to fraud and has called for new elections on October 17. To discuss this, our guests are Africa-based Kumi Naidoo, launch director of Africans Rising; and Assumpa Oturu, host of Pacifica Radio's “Spotlight Africa.”
